Some fantastic rings shown and great information. A growing trend id the use of coloured stone rings like sapphire and emerald rings as engagement rings. I think it will be a growing trend in the coming years. The less obvious gem stone in an engagement ring but just as beautiful.

Rashi, well to be honest... I am new in jewellery too. But as far as I know and understand Mr. Shiv Shankarlal Gupta of Jaipur went to Africa in 50's in search of gems. He did find it... brought it to Jaipur and started manufacturing. Every1 else started manufacturing Emerald too. See Emerald is a really hard stone to cut, it requires good experience, talent and knowledge about the rough stones. So most of the Emerald export to the world is done by Jaipur. Its available in Jaipur in a much comparative price, therefore Emerald in jewelery is much popular in Jaipur.

(Interesting facts : Mr. S S Gupta owns an Emerald mine in Africa called KAGEM. The best rough Emerald miners in the world is Gemfields - www.gemfields.co.uk)
