How to impress your boss?
78How to impress your boss?
Do not try to impress your Boss
Please do not try to impress your boss. It is dangerous! Boss is boss after all !!
This is the first and foremost advice. The boss is much smarter than you. That is why he is the boss.
You may loose your credit or even your dream job trying to impress your boss.Your career may be at stake! So what to do?
There are two golden rules for a sub-ordinate (an old proverb).
Rule No. 1: Boss is always right.
Rule No. 2: If you think not, see rule No. 1.
So, these are very simple rules. It seems to be a joke but it teaches a lot.
Impressing boss in tough time
Your work is your impression
Your work and your work only can impress your boss. A boss or a leader is the person who manages his or her subordinates. He / she knows the internal abilities and capacities of an employee. The boss assigns work according to Skills and capabilities of the employee and wants him or her to deliver it. Quality work does matter for the boss.
See Problems and solutions: Unemployed youth
You have to remember that your boss also has a boss and is responsible to his
higher authorities. Even if he / she is the highest in rank he / she is responsible
to corporation and share holders. He / she is also responsible to the tax authorities
and the Government.
Your boss will be held responsible for your work. Your quality work will
place your boss high in the eyes of the authorities. This certainly create your
impression too.
Psychologists say that people love smart actions not the smart people. Perform and complete your assigned works smartly. But never try to be over smart. You may be down graded if you try to look smarter. It will hurt your boss's ego. Hence, be modest with your boss and he will start you love.

Bosses
everywhere assign responsibilities to skillful and competent people. Fulfillment of those
responsibilities earn extra points for you. Be competent and you need not to try impress your boss.
Be competent in your domain. Be competent in communication skills.
3. Control: You should have control over yourself. It brings discipline within you. You also need to control your instincts and emotions. Those who have control over instincts and emotions become leaders.
Self-controlled people accomplish their
tasks properly, efficiently and timely. This in turn grow your effectiveness and that will impress your boss.
4. Challenge: The last but not the least is accepting challenges. Virtues of Confidence, competence and control will make you a good employee but accepting and fulfilling challenges will make you the great.
Accept the challenges. Set higher goals for yourself, your team and your company and thrive to achieve those.
It will impress boss definitely without any doubt.
The 4 C's are always meaningful but are more important for white collar jobs.

Dear JOYTI
Last few days I was thinking on this matter and today i got the answer. Many people may have confidence, competence and ready to take chalenge but due to lack of self control cycle not been completed.
Thanks a lot for this valuable guidance.
This is the dumbest article I have ever read. Everything you say in this article refers to the "Boss" as pretty much a god. The reality is that most "bosses" are idiots. It's the people above them that you want to impress.
Not only that, the information in this article is common knowledge. The Four 'C's....really? It should have been used when applying for a job. It takes much more to impress your superior.
Dear Jyothi,
Its really a great outlook to become sucessfull in life.currently i am working in a very giant company and i will follow your rules to do great in my future.
Thanks and regards,
Monu Chaturvedi
thiugh i am student n not working, but good to keep in mind these things so that i can start my carier without any problem. this a good article. I will keep these things in mind. 'Thanks!!!'
You are very much right about bosses.
We all strive for promotion and more money. While more money can happen, sometimes boss is not ready to promote an employee, especially if the employee is handling a job with ease and elegance :)
Every boss wants that kind of an employee to stay in particular position forever, and to continue to handle it with perfection. There are some rare and bad cases where incompetent employee would get promoted, when boss can't handle a situation.
Anyway, a good hub!
good day,
yes.... impressing the boss might put you in danger
i am working now in group of company here in egypt, this is a big company of construction..my colleagues tell me to try impressing my boss to do this and that....but i don't do it because i know, my boss will think that i am making it just to get what i want...id rather now love to be simple but manageable to my work..i believe that"if i work properly and devotedly i can empress him not by acting as i know all the things...i love my work,,and i do it for my boss..but i will not show it...i will let him know surprisingly that i am working the way as it is....thanks to your hub...two thumbs up..
Hi,
Impressing boss is not an easy job. Even if he pleased he will no be going to tell you!
That is boss!
Thumbs up!
Hi,
This is difficult to impress boss. I agree with you that it can be dangerous.
Jyoti ji,
Thanks for the interesting hub. You are right. It is good to do your work honestly and understanding the Boss.
But right now the I have seen the management has given importance to making a teams inside the organizations and giving equal opportunity to every team members, where you can express your views and discuss it with your subordinates. A collective decision out of the discussions is more profitable and productive. There is no Boss. They are independent and have equal authority. India is growing very fast and many changes are taking place inside the organizations. 21st centuries illiterate are not those who cannot read or right, but those who are not willing to change according to the developments taking place in the world.
Thanks for the hub. Also thanks for highlighting my hubs in your Blog http://hubpages-india.blogspot.com/2009/10/jacobku
Jyoti,
I have impressed my boss in my early days with efficient works.

Jyoti Kothari,
One can not impress her boss unless she has some extra qualities. She can only work hard to find her bread. If she learn something she can impress her boss.
Thanks for a good hub.

Jyoti Bhai,
This is great. It is really difficult to make fool one's boss. Boss is always much smarter than his employees. The only way to impress your boss is to work hard and work sincerely.
Thumbs up!
Suraj
Do not overshadow your boss. Make them shine and you will shine. Support your boss. You rise when your boss rises. Even if your boss does not shine it will be apparent to everyone else who should replace him/her.
thanks jyotiji,
this is a very useful hub page for many people in their jobs,
thanks,
This is a very interesting Hub from an American point of view. I think the work world must be very different in India. If you can truly count on your boss to be smarter than you, to be competent, to be in control, honest, trustworthy, and realiable, you are extremely fortunate. Here, none of these qualities matter to a boss, and most of them do not possess them. Employees are disposable and live in fear of having their entire lives ruined by one incompetent power freak.
If an employee in India can really impress the boss through the methods you outline, you are all very lucky!
