Unemployment and job-loss in America: what will Presidential candidates do?

What do the Americans expect from their new President? What should Obama and Mccain address in their Presidential campaign? This is the hot debatable topic in America. Where should both the Presidential candidates Obama and Mccain concentrate to be popular among common American people? This is now hot-American.

If I were the candidate I would address common Americans’ day-to-day problems of their livelihood. In a tremendous financial crisis, foreclosures, mortgage payments, education of children, health insurance, rising gas price and even daily expenditures are matter of concern to everyone.

The federal Government passed $700 billion bailout plan but this will not serve purpose of common people. This huge money will go into the pockets of Wall Street traders or big corporate houses.

Common American people are loosing their jobs (160000 job loss in September alone). Total job loss in the year 2008 is 750000!!

Pay packages are either as it is or falling but consumer prices are rising due to inflation. Americans in general are finding difficulties to meet their expenditures required for their livelihood.

Neither common Americans nor politicians or Government have addressed employment issue since many years. They were living in a fool’s heaven during that time.

The President, Government, senate and congress have ignored tremendous economic growth in Asian region. They simply ignored power of China in manufacturing sectors and of India in service sectors but kept themselves busy in Iraq war or policing Iran. Both China and India have huge population who can easily outrage Americans from their jobs. Foolishly previous Governments supported Pakistan, the then a rogg state, and impose sanction over India because of their N-test. India has successfully faced the sanction and lost nothing but America lost lot of business with them.

Meanwhile educated and skilled Indian youth captured the job markets. USA needed skillful software engineers for their silicon valley and the Indian youths fulfilled the same. When American governments tighten visa rules the corporate houses outsourced their works. More than a million of Indian youths are working in call centers and other areas for American companies. Internet has provided them opportunity to work in house for them. Most of the financial giants opened their corporate offices in India to tap skill of Indian youth.

China, on the other hand, has provided facilities to corporations working in manufacturing sectors. Many big corporations have their manufacturing units situated in China. Cheap Chinese labor, cheap land and tax benefits made China a desired destination for the American corporations.

Not only India and China but also small countries like Philippines and Sri Lanka have grabbed lot of jobs.

Investments, earnings and jobs are moving to Asia but expenditures remained in American side. This is a deadly combination.

No President can change this magically because it is too late for those who were living in a fool’s heaven for decades.

This is hot for Americans! really hot!!

So the Presidential candidates Obama and Mccain have to address these as core concern. Did you see this in Presidential debates?

This hub was written when campaign for the post of American President was at its peak. Long time have been past since then. Obama has won the presidential election and has taken charge of the office replacing President Bush.

President Obama has been in office since January 20, 2009. He has spent more than two and half months in office.

Large section of people in America and rest of the world had expected some charisma from President Obama. They thought that he will come out with some magic wander to solve their economic and financial problems. However, nothing like that happened so far.

Dow Jones and NASDAQ continues to plunge (With some exceptions), Industries and businesses are slowing down, job losses are at their place and common American citizens are continuing with their problems.

Recent terrorist attack on America again made them afraid. (updated on April 5, 2009)
